Rutgers Obsession DMR Basil
Rutgers Obsession DMR Basil
USDA Certified Organic.
An extremely uniform, large-leaf basil variety that is resistant to downy mildew and slow to bolt. Obsession is characterized by its thick, glossy, dark green pointed leaves that have a natural slight upward cupping. Plants are compact and have a high leaf-to-stem ratio, which makes for an abundant harvest. These plants are typically average 26” in height. Suitable for field or container plant production. This variety is protected by a Utility Patent.
Each plant is started from certified organic seeds and grown organically at The Bloomery, LLC where it is USDA Certified Organic through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Each plant is grown in a 3-inch square pot and shipped in a plastic shell that holds your plant securely in place.
Note from the grower: We take great pride in growing you the best, healthy plants for your garden. We love helping our customers with their gardening needs. Plant Spacing
Transplanting at 4-8" is recommended; if direct seeding, sow 2-3 seeds per inch and thin to 4-8" apart.
Row Spacing
18"
Harvest
Harvest can begin once plants have become established, by pinching or cutting branches but leaving the plant to continue to produce leaves. A harvest of the full plant should be completed just before the plant starts to flower (flavor is significantly impacted once flowering occurs). Cut the entire plant 4-6" above the ground to promote a second growth.
Storage
Store unwashed at room temperature to avoid browning. Do not store below 50°F.
